Isaac B. Bekalo, President
Isaac has twenty five years of practical experience in community and organizational development, management and leadership. As President of IIRR, Isaac takes a lead role in strategy formulation, organizational diagnoses and restructuring, strategic management, business plan development and monitoring and evaluation.Isaac’s academic qualifications include a Doctoral degree in Organizational Development and Planning. While pursuing his doctoral studies, Isaac worked as a part-time lecturer in the school of Public Health and as the Coordinator of Graduate Research Programs in the Philippines. Isaac joined IIRR in September 1989 as the Africa Regional Director and was appointed its 6th President in January 2009. Isaac built IIRR’s Africa Regional Center from scratch by mobilizing resources, building strong teams and establishing a presence in four East African countries.Isaac has successfully co-created, adapted and replicated a participatory knowledge-management and documentation system known as the Writeshop. Isaac has facilitated and co-authored several leading publications as a result of the writeshop process and has trained hundreds of senior and middle level managers and technical specialists to do the same.
Alden Secretario, Finance Director
Alden is the Finance Director of IIRR who joined the Institute in 1997. Alden has been one of the major contributors to the development of the organization’s financial reporting, internal controls and systems innovation. Alden has comprehensive experience in the areas of accounting, auditing, computer programming and demonstrated knowledge in legal laws and operational management. Alden’s educational background and professional achievements include: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Risk Analyst (CRA), Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Associate Degree in Computer Science and various short-term courses in Computer Programming.
April V. Nuestros, Finance Officer
Prior to IIRR, April worked as Revenue Audit Manager of Tagaytay Highlands International Golf Club, Inc. From 2005 to 2011, she served in different financial capacities for Riscuity Asia Inc., Sykes Asia Inc., Huile Corporation, Filinvest Land Inc., Insular Health Care, and Century Properties Inc. April obtained her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from National College of Business & Arts in 2005.
Shukura McDavid, Business Development Manager
Shukura joined IIRR in 2016 as the Business Development Manager. She spearheads the development efforts while administering all functions of the U.S. Office located in New York City, NY. Shukura has over 13 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector, specifically in the areas of fundraising/development and special events. Shukura’s prior work experience included serving as the Development Manager at The POINT Community Development Corporation (TPCDC) in the South Bronx, where she provided the administrative and strategic oversight for the fundraising programs. She has held other various fundraising positions at nonprofits citywide, and has provided consulting services to organizations in capacity building, organizational development and strategic fundraising. Shukura received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York CIty and a Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership from Nyack College in Rockland County.
