Mr. Isaac Bwire is currently IIRR South Sudan Country Programme Manager. Priori to taking the position in South Sudan, Isaac worked as IIRR Programs Manager with IIRR Uganda for 4 years. Isaac holds Master in Education Management and Planning, Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management of Uganda Management Institute and a Bachelor of Education.
Isaac has attained certificates as a Master Trainer in Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR) and Sustainable Livelihoods, Strategic Planning, Master Trainer in Pro-poor Value Chain Development, Training of Trainers in Adult Learning methodologies and Management and personnel Leadership, and developing formal and non formal education programs.
Isaac has 10 years experience as facilitator in the fields of; Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation, facilitating vulnerable communities adopt “Climate Smart Agriculture” practices, building capacity of Small and Medium Enterprise in Pro-poor Value Chain and Actor Empowerment, Organization Capacity Development, facilitating Participatory Rural Appraisal/learning and action, Management of Education and OVC projects, Resource Mobilization, Strategic planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.
While with IIRR, Isaac has ffacilitated cross border contingency planning, National and Community Based trainings on Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation, Participatory Disaster Risk Reduction and mentored communities to develop community action plans.
Isaac has authored a training guide on Community Risk Management in collaboration with UNDP Uganda and development of tools to document children’s voices on the effect of slow and first onset disasters supported by UNICEF Uganda, worked as team leader to pilot Community risk Reduction and Climate Adaptation Planning and Implementation project in Mt Elgon and Rwenzori sub regions of Uganda, and also supported development of the audio visual documentary.
