IIRR is a good model of an organization that does more with less. Although the organization is based in the Northern Hemisphere (USA based), our global headquarters operates in the south (The Philippines). By doing so, we channel most our development funds directly to programs. We utilize local resources whereby in each country, 100% of our staff are locals who are more invested in the development of their people.
We also work with local partner organizations that are embedded with our programs right where our communities live. Because we utilize their staff, our costs are significantly lowered. We don’t give handouts where communities become dependent, instead we insist that they make in-kind, cash or other forms of contributions to sustain the programs but more so to make them feel the ownership for their development that gives them respect and dignity. Through trainings, facilitation of south-south (Asia-Africa) learning, technical services, publications and use of our own facility, we generate own earned income to complement outside funding which makes us more resilient compared to many other organization that are 100% dependent on donor funding.
We are compliant and accountable for every resource entrusted to us. Our local and international audit and annual reports for the year ended are published before the middle of a current year and posted in website. For several years, we have maintained a four star rating by Charity Navigator, an accrediting body of all USA registered charities. We have a strong global board that demands accountability and provides an oversight for our professional and experienced program managers. We assure all our supporters transparency in all our dealings.
