The International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) has been accepted into the Newman’s Own Foundation Holiday Challenge. A total of $500,000 can be won through a series of competitive challenges between Nov. 21 and Jan. 3.
This is life-changing money in our line of work. It could mean thousands of goats for girls, a sustainable source of income keeping them in school. It could mean hundreds of school-based bio-intensive gardens, improving the lives of malnourished children and communities.
In the next six weeks, you can help us win funds to support our work. Your gift, even if it’s just $10, can be leveraged to win hundreds of thousands of dollars this holiday season.
There are several ways to help us fundraise and friendraise:
- Start your own team! Recruit friends to join and donate.
- Follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter – and share Challenge updates with your friends. [insert links]
- On Nov. 21, make a gift to get us off to a healthy start.
- Bonus Challenge: For every $500 raised, we’ll be entered to win $2,500.
There are new challenges and new ways to win funding each week, but the most important thing to do is start or donate to a team.
As you consider this Holiday Challenge, hear from Damo Sako, a 16-year old beneficiary of our Goats for Girls program in Ethiopia: “In our community all boys are given a gift when they are born, but we girls don’t get anything. The goat project is the first live gift we have ever received as girls and it has restored our dignity and self-worth.”
When you give to the IIRR, you make this gift happen. The Challenge starts Tuesday. Please consider starting a team and rallying friends today!
