External vacancy announcement for recruitment of staff for IIRR Ethiopia’s Mass Youth Employment in Apiculture (MaYEA) program

IIRR Ethiopia has entered a services agreement with MasterCard Foundation to provide services for implementing the Mass Youth Employment in Apiculture (MaYEA) program.

The Mass Youth Employment in Apiculture (MaYEA)

The Mass Youth Employment in Apiculture (MaYEA) program aims to disrupt the apiculture sector and allied value chains and triple the current annual honey production by 2028 by recruiting 300,000 new beekeepers, increasing the productivity of 350,000 existing young beekeeping farmers, and engaging an additional 350,000 young people in integrated value chain activities in the apiculture sector. Fifty thousand are expected to come as wage employment from the 50 commercial apiculture farms prompted by the program.

Sub-national Apiculture Lead

Job Summary: The Sub-national Apiculture Lead is responsible for the overall implementation of the Central, South, and Southwest (CSSW) Sub-National Hub MaYEA program apiculture component in selected Woredas of Oromia, Gambela, Sidama, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, and South West Ethiopia Regions.

He/She will work within the wider MaYEA program team and other IIRR and implementing partners (SOS Sahel Ethiopia and MELCA) staff. He/She is accountable to the Sub-national Program Director and coordinates with other sub-national technical leads, implementing partners, and the two IIRR cluster leads (Omo Konso Cluster and Gamo-Gofa Cluster).

Moreover, he/she is responsible for the follow-up of apiculture-related resource management and communications of the CSSW-MaYEA program to adhere to all universal and MasterCard Foundation, IIRR, Federal and Regional Governments, and program-specific standards and procedures.

Minimum Education: MSc or higher in Apiculture, Animal production, or closely related field.

Minimum Experience: A minimum of 10 years experience, with a minimum of 6 years of direct experience related to apiary and honey and allied value chains.

Sub-national Enterprise Development Lead

Sub-national Programming, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) Lead

Job Summary: The Sub-national Communications Lead is responsible for the overall handling of the Central, South, and Southwest (CSSW) Sub-National Hub MaYEA program Communication activities in selected Woredas of Oromia, Gambela, Sidama, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, and South West Ethiopia Regions and other areas as deemed necessary.

He/She will work within the wider MaYEA program team and other IIRR and implementing partners (SOS Sahel Ethiopia and MELCA) staff. He / She is accountable to the Sub-national Program Director and coordinates with other sub-national technical leads, implementing partners, and the two IIRR cluster leads (Omo-Konso Cluster and Gamo-Gofa Cluster).

Sub-national Program Accountant

Job Summary: The Sub-national Program Accountant is responsible for the overall accounting task of the Central, South, and Southwest (CSSW) Sub-National Hub MaYEA program to be implemented in selected Woredas of Oromia, Gambela, Sidama, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, and South West Ethiopia Regions. This includes documenting financial transactions, compiling and analyzing accounting data, preparing reports, and providing financial information to management.

He/She will work within the wider MaYEA program team and other IIRR and implementing partners (SOS Sahel Ethiopia and MELCA) staff. He / She is accountable to the Subnational Finance and Grant Management Lead and coordinates with other sub-national technical leads, implementing partners, and the two IIRR cluster staff (Omo-Konso Cluster and Gamo-Gofa Cluster).

Moreover, he/she is responsible for the follow-up and documentation of all financial transactions and related communications of the CSSW-MaYEA program to adhere to all universal and MasterCard Foundation, IIRR, Federal and Regional Governments, and program-specific standards and procedures.

Minimum Education: BA Degree or higher in Accounting, Accounting, and Finance, or related fields.

Minimum Experience: A minimum of five years of experience working for an International NGO

Cluster Coordinator

Job Summary: Coordinator is responsible for implementing the Omo-Konso Cluster / Gamo-Gofa Cluster MaYEA program in selected Woredas of South Omo and Konso Zones / Gamo and Gonfa Zones of South Ethiopia Region.

He/She will work within the wider MaYEA program team and other IIRR staff. He / She is accountable to the sub-national Program Director and coordinates with the CSSW sub-national technical leads and the other IIRR cluster office.

Moreover, he/she is responsible for the follow-up of the overall MaYEA resource management and communications of the Cluster’s MaYEA program to adhere to all universal and MasterCard Foundation, IIRR, Federal and Regional Governments, and program-specific standards and procedures.

Minimum Education: BA/MA/BSC/ MSC or higher in Agriculture, Animal Production, Apiculture, Business Management, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Development studies, or a closely related field.

Minimum Experience: A minimum of 12 years experience for BA and eight years for MA, with a minimum of 6 years in managerial position of development programs and projects.

Cluster Apiculture Development Officer

Woreda Program Officers

Job Summary: The Woreda Program Officers are responsible for implementing the MaYEA program in their respective Woredas in the South Omo, Konso, Gamo, or Gofa Zones of the South Ethiopia Region.

He/She will work within the wider MaYEA program team and other IIRR staff. He/She is accountable to his/her respective cluster coordinator and coordinates with sub-national and cluster teams and other IIRR teams.

Moreover, he/she is responsible for the follow-up of the overall MaYEA resource management and communications of his/her Woreda MaYEA program to adhere to all universal and MasterCard Foundation, IIRR, Federal and Regional Governments, and program-specific standards and procedures

Minimum Education: At least an Advanced Diploma in Agriculture, preferably BSc/ BA and above, in animal science, agriculture, agricultural economics, agribusiness, business Management, or a related field.

Minimum Experience: Direct experience in agricultural enterprise development, especially in apiculture at the grassroots level is required. A minimum of two years experience for a master’s, six years for a bachelor’s, and ten years for an advanced diploma holder is mandatory.

Cluster Accountant

He/She will work within the wider MaYEA program team and other IIRR staff. He / She is accountable to his/her cluster coordinator and coordinates with the cluster officers, CSSW sub-national Finance and Grant Manager, and accountant.

Moreover, he/she is responsible for the follow-up and documentation of all financial transactions and related communications of the Omo-Konso Cluster / Gamo-Gofa Cluster MaYEA program to adhere to all universal and MasterCard Foundation, IIRR, Federal and Regional Governments, and program-specific standards and procedures.

Minimum Education: At least a BA Degree in Accounting, Accounting, and Finance, or a related field.

Minimum Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience working for an NGO.

Cluster Cashier

Cluster Purchaser & Driver

Job Summary: The Omo-Konso Cluster / Gamo-Gofa Cluster Purchaser & Driver is responsible for the overall purchasing and transporting tasks of the Omo Konso Cluster / Gamo-Gofa Cluster MaYEA program to be implemented in selected Woredas of South Omo and Konso Zones / Gamo and Gonfa Zones of South Ethiopia Region. This includes all aspects of the purchasing process, transporting goods and people promptly.

He/She will work within the wider MaYEA program team and other IIRR staff. He / She is accountable to her/ his respective cluster coordinator.

Minimum Education: Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management, Logistics, Accounting, Accounting and Finance, Business Management, or a related field or a High school graduate with a third-grade driving license.

Minimum Experience: Zero-year for advanced diploma graduates and a minimum of 4-year relevant experience in high school graduates with perfect driving skills.
