August 30, 2024 – IIRR is pleased to announce the appointment of Humberto Bantar Munin as the new Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, & Learning (MEL). With a distinguished career spanning over 14 years in MEL functions, Humberto brings a wealth of experience in development work across various regions, including Latin America, Southern Africa, and Central Asia.
Humberto will lead the development and implementation of a new centralized MEL strategy, significantly strengthening the organization’s current evaluation activities and leading to more impactful programs and deeper insights into the rural communities served by IIRR. His role will be crucial in driving evidence-based decision-making, ensuring that IIRR’s projects are both effective and sustainable.
An economist by training, Humberto graduated from the University of Buenos Aires and holds a Master’s degree in Applied Labor Economics for Development from the University of Turin and the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po). Humberto’s expertise extends across multiple sectors, including Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Social Protection, Food Security, Health, Migration, Gender, Livelihoods, and Emergency Response. His diverse background encompasses roles in the public and private sectors, NGOs, international organizations, research centers, and universities. His academic achievements and professional experience will significantly contribute to IIRR’s mission of empowering communities and fostering sustainable development.
Humberto is recognized by his former colleagues as an expert in MEL, distinguished by his ability to develop and implement advanced monitoring and evaluation methodologies ensuring that evaluation processes align with organizational goals and drive successful project outcomes.
