IIRR 2024 Impact Report: Empowering People, Nurturing Livelihoods, Transforming Communities

In 2024, IIRR deepened its commitment to empowering rural people to build resilient, equitable, and sustainable futures. Despite global challenges – from climate shocks to economic disruptions – rural communities across Africa and Asia demonstrated extraordinary resilience, innovation, and leadership.

The 2024 Impact Report showcases how IIRR’s community-led approach continues to strengthen livelihoods, promote inclusive education, and drive climate resilience. Through initiatives spanning agriculture, natural resource management, health, and local governance, IIRR supported millions of rural families to increase income stability, improve nutrition, and expand opportunities for women and youth.

Across diverse contexts – from smallholder farmers in Ethiopia and fisherfolk in Cambodia to women-led cooperatives in Uganda – local leadership remained at the heart of every success. Programs helped communities restore degraded landscapes, adopt climate-smart practices, and diversify incomes through enterprises such as beekeeping, aquaculture, and regenerative farming.
