General Description

The Finance Officer collaborates with members of the finance office team to enact financial management systems and oversee daily financial transactions. This role entails the diligent application of accounting principles and procedures for transaction recording, preparation of financial documents and reports, financial analysis, and the enforcement of suitable accounting control measures. Notably, these responsibilities extend beyond Headquarters to encompass all operational units of IIRR. The incumbent will be stationed in Silang, Cavite, Philippines, and will report directly to the Finance Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review the completeness, validity and accuracy of accounting documents, including proper filing.
  2. Prepare and record official receipts, cash vouchers, and journal vouchers; review the completeness, validity and accuracy of supporting documents.
  3. Prepare and analyze bank reconciliations, cash flows projections, BIR schedules, payroll worksheets, pension schedules, depreciation schedules, interoffice reconciliation and other related financial monitoring reports.
  4. Prepare financial reports, project reports, Funder/Donor financial reports, cash flow projections, Cash Position, forecasts, project budgets and other financial reports as needed.
  5. Assist in the completion of budget process, external and internal audit process, statutory registration, and other Institute government compliance in the Philippines, US Office and other operating units.
  6. Coordinate banking and other operational transactions.
  7. Assist the Finance Director in monitoring and checking the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reports and schedules processed by different operating units,
  8. Attend to program staff requests and meetings, and closely coordinate with Operations and Program/Project teams.
  9. Contribute to the development, establishment, and implementation of internal controls, financial documentation, and administrative systems and procedures in accordance with Institute standard policies to ensure operational efficiency.
  10. Perform other related responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated from time to time.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science major in Accountancy (BSA) graduate; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 (three) years’ work experience in holding similar responsibilities; experience working with NGO/Not-for-Profit Organization is an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of MS-Excel.
  • Keen attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate in English, written and verbal
  • Ability to identify and communicate potential problems and propose creative solutions
  • Ability to perform well in a complex work environment (team player) and address numerous simultaneous requests effectively
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver high-quality, accurate work within tight deadlines
  • Experience in using computers and office software applications such as MS Word, Power Point, and Internet
